PBD Green Initiatives

• PBD is the first shipper in the Southeastern U.S. and Hong Kong/China to implement the UPS Paperless Commercial Invoice for international export shipments.  This effort will reduce PBD’s consumption of paper by 450,000 sheets and reduce printer toner cartridge usage by 150 cartridges in 2008.  Currently 85% of PBD’s international export shipments are destined for the 100 countries accepting the new UPS Paperless Commercial Invoice.
• In 2008, all PBD facilities will be retrofitted with new fluorescent lighting, which will significantly reduce PBD’s energy consumption and reduce overall costs.  The life of the fluorescent bulbs last 30% longer than the alternatives.  In the event of a power outage, the new fluorescent bulbs will power back-up in seconds versus minutes with the alternatives. 
• PBD operates using all electric vs. gasoline equipment
• All office waste paper and cardboard are recycled 
• One piece of paper is used as the pick ticket, packing slip, invoice document, and returns document
• Recycled paper and Cello flat air bubble packaging (made out of recycled plastic) is used
